Hailing from Nangarhar, Mohammad Ishaq is a positive middle-order batsman and skilled wicketkeeper who has steadily progressed through Afghanistan’s youth ranks. He served as the designated wicketkeeper for Afghanistan in two consecutive Under-19 World Cups—in 2020 and 2022—showcasing his potential behind the stumps and with the bat. Ishaq made his T20 International debut in February 2024 and has since featured in a handful of matches. While opportunities at the senior level have been limited, he remains a key part of Afghanistan’s squad primarily as the backup wicketkeeper to Rahmanullah Gurbaz. With his promising skill set and growing experience, Mohammad Ishaq is regarded as an important future option for Afghanistan’s wicketkeeping role.
